奥古斯托•罗亚•巴斯托斯，巴拉圭著名小说家，20世纪最重要的拉丁美洲作家之一，拉丁美洲“文学爆炸”时期代表人物，著有多部小说、电影剧本与诗集，代表作有《人子》《至上者》《检察官》等，1989年获西语文学大奖“塞万提斯奖”。巴斯托斯的作品多写于流亡期间，以巴拉圭的政治压迫和社会斗争为背景，尝试捕捉祖国人民内在的脆弱性和悲剧因素。他的作品多使用瓜拉尼语化的西班牙语，其充满幻想的叙述与巴拉圭本土的文化和神话符号相融合，形成了独具特色的魔幻现实主义风格。
